Should Schools Involved in Extracurricular activites be drug tested?

September 27, 2007 at 5:30 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I stronly believe that students should be drug tested. I think that studnets that are tested postive for drugs should not be allowed to do extracurricular activities. They should earn the privlage to be able to participate in sports and not abuse the school rules. Students that are found taking drugs that are already on a team should not be able to participate in the sport for the reminder of the school year. By doing this, we will ensure our students’ safty and decrease drug abuse.

To Overcome Your Fears…

Query: What wouldyou do if you were not afraid?

                          Afraid

If I were not afraid then I would be myself and not worry about what other people think about me. From previous experiences I have learned that doing something just to be part of the majority is not always the best thing. Instead, you should take a risk and express your true feelings even if everyone does not agree with you. It’s important to remember that either people like you for the person that you are, and that you shouldn’t change yourself just to be accepted by others.

The most important Amendment

September 18, 2007 at 4:47 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Even though all of the amendments are important, I think that amendment number one (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.)  is the most vital. After all, War World II broke out because Jewish people throughout Germany were killed by the Nazis and weren’t treated with equality. I think that this amendment is the most important because everyone has their own views of different situations that they should be able to follow (within reason).

Does internet make us lazy?

September 18, 2007 at 2:27 pm | In Uncategorized | 4 Comments

This is an example of survey blogging.

Do you think that the internet makes us lazy?

I personally think that the internet does make us lazy because we get used to doing everything in the comfort of our own home. Stop and Shop even offers a service where you can order online and have your orders delivered to your house. I believe that the reason why people have to worry about obesity is because they don’t get as much exercise as they would if there were no computers. Even though the internet is very convenient, it promotes laziness. Please post your opinions and comments about this survey!

Do schools ruin our creativity?

Query: Do schools kill our creativity?

I do not think that schools kill our creativity because they give students  insight and background on a variety of subjects. Public schools even offer students an opportunity to play an instrument of their choice from grades four through twelve. Teachers also spend their extra time after school so that students can participate in a variety of extra curricular activities, ranging from creative writing to playing floor hockey. As a result, students gain the knowledge and innovative skills that they need in order for them to be successful in the future. In conclusion, I challenge you to answer the query that was in the aforementioned paragraph. Please post your opinions!

I will Never Forget…

September 11, 2007 at 1:07 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

A Day of Remembrance. I remember coming back from music class in second grade and seeing all the teachers in the front office crying.  At the time, I had no idea what they were crying about. My first initial thoughts were that they were crying over something sad that wouldn’t affect any of us. However, that was just the opposite.

When we came into the classroom my teacher sat us down on the carpet and told us the truth. All I remember thinking was I that I couldn’t wait until I got home to make sure that everything was allright. When I got home my parents reassured me that we were safe. They made sure that I didn’t see the video of the plane crashing into the twin towers to often, so that I wouldn’t get upset. The next day we took a few minutues to remember what happenend on 9/11.

After six years, my thoughts about 9/11 have changed a little. When I was in second grade I really didn’t understand that much about what happened on that tragic day. Now that my understanding on 9/11 has improved I see 9/11 from a different view. I used to think that the terrorists were bad people. However, now I see that the terrorists aren’t bad people, but they are severly misguided.

Make a Wish

September 10, 2007 at 1:31 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Shooting star I think that the majority of us would  make a wish for ourselves if we could. However, there are thousands of people in the world who are much less fortunate than we are. Therefore, I would make a wish for a Hurricane Katrina victom (around the age of six or seven) to have a caring and loving home; along with the best education from grade one through college.

I think that Hurricane Katrina would be most traumatic to a young child because it would be extremely difficult for them to fend for themself and be reunited with their families. Young children also have the most fears, including the fear or being alone and the fear of being seperated from their families. However, having an elite education would dramatically improve their chances for a successful life. In conclusion, I challenge you to answer this question that my social studies teacher assigned to me: if you could make a wish for anyone else other than yourself, who would it be for and why?
